About
Garment Project was founded in Copenhagen in 2013, beginning with footwear. Today, the collections encompass both footwear and clothing.
Our background in shoes still informs the way we look at a wardrobe. How trousers fall over a shoe interests us as much as either piece on its own. A change in length, volume or the weight of a sole can shift the entire silhouette.
References to classic footwear, workwear and sport recur throughout the collections. We adjust their proportions and use materials to change their expression. To us, a loafer, a pair of jeans and a technical jacket belong in the same wardrobe. What interests us is how they are worn together.
Production
Our footwear is handmade in Portugal. Leather and suede feature throughout, with hand-stitched details appearing across several styles.
In clothing, we work with cotton, wool and leather alongside technical textiles such as our custom-developed TechNylon. Materials are chosen for their surface and the shape they give a garment. The crisp structure and metallic sheen of TechNylon, for example, bring a different character to a classic jacket.
Collaboration
Garment Project has collaborated with Storm, Pasteelo, MODO and Martin The Meat, among others. These projects draw on art, music and skateboarding, bringing other points of view into the collections.
The work has included special editions of our footwear, graphic artwork and a music release on cassette. Collaborations also offer a closer look at the interests and people around Garment Project.
